Originally from Lyon, this wrought iron sculptor knew how to transcend wrought iron to reveal the preciousness of this material by playing with curves, intertwining plants and astonishing animal forms.
Zadounaisky knew how to reinvent the art of ironwork of the 1930s without any concession to the style of the tastes of the day. An atypical figure shaped by the Beaux-Arts (Fine Arts School) of Lyon, he was unwavering in producing objects that appealed to him. His structures translated his emotions and rendered at the same time the idea of power and of levity that makes one forget the rustic nature of the material he used.
